JMI Non-Slip Rubber Rein Grips - Professional Replacement
Upgrade your rein control with JMI Non-Slip Rubber Rein Grips—premium replacement grips engineered for superior hold and reliable performance in all weather conditions. Professional installation with nylon webbing wrapping and stitching ensures secure, long-lasting attachment to your reins.
Superior Non-Slip Grip Technology
Advanced rubber compound provides exceptional grip in wet, dry, hot, or cold conditions. Maintain consistent rein contact and precise control whether you're riding through rain, working up a sweat during intense training, or handling cold morning rides. The textured surface ensures your hands stay secure without excessive gripping force.
Professional Installation Required
Proper installation involves wrapping both ends with nylon webbing and securing with stitches for permanent, reliable attachment. This professional installation method ensures the grips won't slip, twist, or come loose during use—critical for safety and performance during racing and training.
Durable Weather-Resistant Construction
Premium rubber material withstands UV exposure, temperature extremes, moisture, and daily wear. Unlike leather grips that crack, stiffen, or deteriorate with exposure to elements, these rubber grips maintain their performance and appearance season after season. Resistant to sweat, rain, and cleaning products.
Enhanced Rein Handling & Control
Ergonomic design reduces hand fatigue during long rides and training sessions. The cushioned rubber absorbs vibration and provides comfortable contact points, allowing you to maintain light, responsive rein communication without grip strain. Perfect for riders who spend hours in the saddle daily.

The professional installation ensures these grips stay securely in place through the most demanding riding conditions.
Professional Installation Guide
Note: This installation requires basic sewing skills and materials. If you're not comfortable with hand-sewing or machine-sewing, we recommend having a professional tack repair shop or saddler install these grips.
Gather Materials & Prepare
You'll need: rubber grips, nylon webbing (matching width to grip ends), heavy-duty thread, sewing needle or machine, scissors, and measuring tape. Clean and dry your reins thoroughly before starting.
Position the Grips
Determine optimal placement on your reins—typically where your hands naturally rest during riding. Mark the position with chalk or tape. Ensure grips will be positioned symmetrically on both reins.
Slide Grips Into Place
Gently stretch the rubber grip and slide it onto the rein. Work it into the marked position. The rubber will conform to the rein shape. Ensure it's centered and positioned correctly before proceeding.
Wrap with Nylon Webbing
Cut nylon webbing to appropriate length for each end of the grip. Wrap the webbing tightly around both ends of the rubber grip, overlapping the grip edge and the rein material to create a secure transition.
Secure with Stitching
Using heavy-duty thread and a saddle stitch or machine stitch, sew through the nylon webbing to secure it firmly. Make multiple passes for strength. Ensure stitches go through all layers for maximum security.
Inspect & Test
Check that all stitching is secure and the webbing is tight. Test the grip by pulling firmly—it should not move or twist. Repeat the process for the second rein, ensuring symmetrical placement.
Installation Tips
- Thread Choice: Use waxed polyester or nylon thread for maximum durability and weather resistance
- Stitch Pattern: A saddle stitch (two needles) provides the strongest hand-sewn attachment
- Webbing Width: Match webbing width to the grip end diameter for clean, professional appearance
- Tension: Keep webbing tight during wrapping to prevent future slippage
- Professional Help: If unsure, consult a tack repair shop—proper installation is critical for safety

Care & Maintenance
Daily Care: After each use, wipe down rubber grips with a damp cloth to remove dirt, sweat, and debris. The non-porous rubber surface cleans easily and dries quickly.
Deep Cleaning: For thorough cleaning, use mild soap and water. Rinse completely and allow to air dry. Avoid harsh chemicals or solvents that may degrade rubber or damage stitching.
Stitch Inspection: Regularly inspect the nylon webbing and stitching for signs of wear, fraying, or loosening. Re-stitch or reinforce as needed to maintain secure attachment.
Storage: Store reins in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight when not in use. While UV-resistant, prolonged sun exposure can eventually affect any rubber product.
Replacement: Replace grips if rubber becomes damaged, cracked, or loses non-slip properties, or if webbing/stitching becomes compromised and cannot be repaired.
Longevity: With proper installation, care, and periodic inspection, these rubber grips will provide years of reliable service. The weather-resistant construction maintains performance far longer than traditional leather grips.
